Chicago, IL: European companies looking for hosting services have one more choice. NetSource has become Safe Harbor compliant at our hosting facility located in Naperville, IL. NetSource will renew the Safe Harbor compliance on an annual basis. The Safe Harbor Framework was created to ensure personal information NetSource collects from European companies who do business with NetSource will be protected.

What is the Safe Harbor Framework? In 1998 it was decided that the transfer of personal data to non-European Union countries from European countries needed a framework to protect the data. The Safe Harbor framework provides a streamlined method for U.S. companies to comply with this directive. Both the U.S. and EU shared the same goals of protecting personal data but this framework allows U.S. companies to apply for the Safe Harbor compliance so that EU companies knew their requirements where being met. Any U.S. organization that is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or U.S. air carriers and ticket agents subject to the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation (DoT) may participate in the Safe Harbor.

The Framework covers the following EU countries who may do business with NetSource and need hosting services: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
